Mt. Tamalpais

—A photo walk with Priime—

Story by Cory Maryott May 4th, 2015

"Vintage Cars + Modern Sunsets"

A few weeks after launching their new mobile photo editing app Priime, the founders hosted a two part event to bring together photographers from the community for an evening of photography and adventure. The event began with a car show and a photo talk, where several photographers who contributed Styles to the app gave short talks about their work. Following the talk, everyone headed up to Mount Tamalpais together to catch the sunset.

I met up with a group of friends I know via Instagram, and together we set out for a Saturday adventure.

But first— Brunch

We got together on a late Saturday morning, so naturally we started our day with a San Franciscan brunch. This is our usual pattern—brunch first, then adventure. This time we tried something new and went to Marlowe in SoMa.

Marlowe's interior was filled with morning light, all the white and soft grays glowed gently.

Dreaming in Bulthaup

After brunch we wandered down the street to kill time, and wound up at a beautiful furniture store called Bulthaup. The showroom was incredibly beautiful, with modern, elegant kitchen and bath designs. We wandered around admiring the displays while snapping a few photos in spaces we wished were ours.

The deck outside Bulthaup makes for a nice backdrop. We still had plenty of time to kill before heading north for the Priime event, so I snapped some portraits.

Priime's CAr show & Photo Talk

After eating brunch and enjoying the Bulthaup showroom, we headed north from San Francisco to Priime’s car show/photo talk in Corte Madera. There were awesome vintage cars on display as well as fancy modern luxury cars. A handful of photographers who collaborated with Priime to create Styles for the app spoke at the event about their work and experience as photographers.

Admittedly I’m not one to take photos of cars, so I had Tingko, a friend of ours, pose for me by a window.

Up the mountain we go

Following the talk and car show, everyone headed over to Mt. Tam to catch the sunset. We had rather clear weather, which gave some beautiful views of the Bay—but this spot really shines on days of fog. When the fog rolls into the Bay below, from the mountain all you can see beneath you is an ocean of cloud.

Fog or no fog, we were all excited to roam the trail and snap photos together.
